Dr. Tang obtained her PhD degree from the Australian National University and master degree from University of New South Wales. She holds CPA designations from Canada and Australia. Before joining Brock University, she was on the faculty at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan) and a visiting researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle. Prior to pursuing an academic career, she was a senior tax consultant for two multinational companies in Hong Kong. She also worked for more than 10 years at the Bureau of Finance, Local Taxation Administration, and Tax Audit Bureau in China where she was a division supervisor and took a leadership role in auditing complex tax evasion cases.

Dr. Tang's research papers have been published or accepted for publication in Accounting Review, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of International Accounting Research, The Journal of the American Taxation Association, The International Journal of Accounting, and others. Her research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada and a number of research grants.

Dr. Tang has served as a reviewer for the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong, AAA conference, CAAA conference, and a variety of academic journals including the Journal of the American Taxation Association, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Asian Review of Accounting, Asian-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics, Advances in Taxation, and Bulletin of Economic Research. She was a member of the Education Advisory Group of the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia, Canada from 2009-2013.
