Fayez A. Elayan holds a PhD in Finance from Louisiana State University, an MBA in Finance and Investments from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Jordan. He began teaching at Goodman School of Business in 2004 as Associate Professor, became Professor in 2009, and is currently the Chair of the Accounting department.

He has also been an Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University and Northeast Louisiana University, Associate Professor at Southwest Missouri State University and Professor at Massey University in New Zealand. At Goodman, Elayan has taught courses in accounting theory, financial accounting, and tax strategy in the undergraduate programs, and corporate governance, advanced accounting theory, research methods, financial accounting decision-making, advanced corporate finance, financial statements analysis, and taxation in the graduate programs.

Elayan is a member of the Canadian Academic of Accounting Association, the Decision Sciences Institute, and the American Allied Social Science Association. He has also been a member of many committees at the university level including, member of the senate, member of the senate governance committee, senate undergraduate program committee, senate teaching and learning committee, BAcc-MAcc program review and accreditation committee, and the MSc review committee.
