Dr. Perera’s research interests are in immigrant and social entrepreneurship, collaborative consumption, social responsibility, employee wellbeing, and consumer activism. Her work has been published in multiple journals including Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, and the Journal of Macromarketing. She has also published multiple academic book chapters, and two co-edited books on the Sharing Economy.

Her research has also been presented at multiple conferences including those sponsored by the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, the Eastern Academy of Management, and the American Marketing Association.
